Mixed Commercial

The Client

Webcor Builders, founded in 1971 in San Mateo, California, has maintained a set of core values that they attribute to their continued success: Bold, Innovate, Community, Trust, and Craft. These are the building blocks that this company has established over the last 40+ years.  Webcor earned the ISO 9001 certification in 2013, making them the only General Contractor in California to attain this elite quality management standard.

The Project

THE BLOC, located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, occupies an entire city block and features numerous shops, including the newly renovated Macy’s Department Store, restaurants, a multi-level public plaza, the Sheraton Hotel and an office tower with a rooftop garden lounge. The Ratkovich Company, a firm focused on urban development, cites ancient Greece as inspiration for THE BLOC. “In ancient Greece, the Agora was a marketplace and meeting place that represented the cultural heartbeat of every major city. THE BLOC will be a modern version of the ancient Agora, a vibrant and eclectic cultural and commercial destination that will be a magnet for both locals and visitors from around the world.” THE BLOC is sure to become a cultural meeting ground for the Los Angeles community and beyond. This project consisted of installing irrigation and landscape on the fourth floor of the Sheraton pool deck. Pots were also installed to accent the cabanas and create a personal space for the guests.
