Lincoln Place Apartments

The Client

Bernards was founded in 1974 by brothers Doug, Greg, and Jeff Bernards and has grown into a nationally ranked, multidisciplinary commercial builder and construction management company. Headquartered in Los Angeles, Bernards delivers technical expertise and outstanding construction services to developers, corporations, educational institutions, and public agencies.

The Project

Built between 1949 and 1951, Lincoln Place is listed on the National and California Registers of Historic Places and was granted historic status in 2005 by California State Historic Resources Commission. The project was restored and modernized in accordance with the Secretary of Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Pierre Landscape was chosen by Bernards and the owner, AIMCO, for the $140 million development of Lincoln Place Apartments in the popular Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles. The construction project involved substantial renovation of apartment buildings, the addition of 99 new apartment units, a new leasing center and clubhouse, and an array of amenities. Eco-friendly features of the renovation include energy-efficient lighting and appliances, energy-conserving roofing systems, and high-efficiently water heaters. Landscaping includes over 200 new trees and focuses on regional plants with an irrigation system designed to conserve water.
